Difference between Snooker and Pool

Snooker and pool which are cue sports are both variations of billiards which was the game originally played by most people in England. Snooker was a game, which was played by the officers of the British army while they were in India. And it was considered a traditional game where the players dressed up for the occasion. You will find the players normally attired in a formal dinner suit along with a bow tie. In snooker the balls were hit with gentle movements allowing them to cruise smoothly across the table to reach the pockets in the table corners. Snooker is a game that is played with plenty of thought and always at a very leisurely pace. The players will take their own time to frame their shots.

People who play pool on the other hand are always dressed in comfortable clothes of their choice. While in snooker the table is very large, the pool table on the other hand is much smaller. The pockets in a pool table are much larger compared to size of the balls. The cloth on a pool table is also much coarser than the cloth found on a snooker table. While the rules for playing snooker are much stricter, the rules for playing pool are more carefree.

Sometime a pool game can be over in a matter of even 10 minutes if the players are experts, as the pace of this game is much faster. In snooker the game proceeds at a much slower pace with each player taking their time to hit the balls with precision. It is much easier to pay pool and even someone who is a novice to the game can easily pocket a ball while this is not so in a game of snooker. Setting up a pool table also costs much less and is the perfect game for beginners to this sporting arena.
